Vietnam Dental care
A recent survey showed that around 25% of children age 6-8 already have dental problems and the percentage is more than 54% among 9 –10-year-olds and over 68.6% for young adults 15-17. Aver 90% of people over 45 also demonstrate dental issues.
The ratio of children under 15 with gingivitis and gum inflammation was 42.7%, jumping to 67% for ages 15-17 and 93% for people of over 45.
The figures alarm doctors because they put Vietnam the highest in the world for dental disease.
Scientists point to two reasons for the figures: the flour concentration in water in Vietnam is at 0.4ppm (less than one-half of international standards) and Vietnamese people are not yet interested in dental care. It is estimated that 50% of the population never goes for dental check-ups (60% among children).
